Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween Everyone!
Just finished handing out the loot. We had about 160 kids, so there's a bit leftover for us. I'm having some girls over tomorrow to make cards, so hopefully they help me eat some of it!

Here's the pumpkin my hubby carved tonight. He got lots of compliments on it!

And, since I don't do Halloween cards, here's another card for tomorrow's workshop. It's a copy of Heather's card from awhile back, but I used googly eyes instead. Isn't it cute?? :) I also don't have all the punches she has, so some parts are hand cut...

Stamps: Best Yet (SU)

Ink: Basic Black

Paper: Michaels

Other: Scalloped Circle Punch (SU), googly eyes

Yay I Won!

Whoot! I won Jes's card challenge that I did with this card. Yay!

Crazy for Cupcakes!

Here's another card for this weekend's card workshop (birthday card themed).

I'm trying to use up some on my non-SU stuff, so the paper on this guy is just random stuff.

I really like this set, I passed on it on my first order, but then picked it up in October during the Birthday promotion.

Stamps: Crazy for Cupcakes (SU)
Paper: Whisper White (SU), purple and blue cardstock from Michaels, striped scrapbooking paper from a Costco block.
Ink: Basic Black (SU)
Other: Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder, watercolour pencils (SU), blender pen (SU), scallop edge punch (SU), ribbon.

Cheers to You

Here's a simple card I made yesterday. I'm gonna use it for my card workshop this weekend. I used the Crystal Effects stuff that I got in my last order over top of the beer, it really makes them look cool. I love it. It feels like it's missing something, but I'm trying to keep the cards as easy (quick) as possible for this weekend. This is supposed to be a guy kind of birthday card, do you think it works?

Stamps: Cheers to You, On Your Birthday (both SU)
Ink: Basic Black, Brocade Blue (both SU)
Paper: Whisper White, Brocade Blue, Riding Hood Red (all SU), striped paper from Costco
Other: Spots & Dots embossing folder, watercolour pencils (SU), blender pen (SU), crystal effects (SU)

Notebook #2

Here's another notebook I did the other day. I think they'll go well at the craft show... How much would you pay for one??

The "Frosty Days" stamp is another one I picked up at Walmart a few weeks ago.

Ink: Baja Breeze (SU)
Paper: Whisper White, Riding Hood Red, Ski Slop e DSP (all SU)
Other: Little Felt Flurries (SU), 1 3/8" circle punch, scalloped circle punch (both SU), corner rounder punch, white gel pen (SU), silver ribbon

... And The Winner Is...

Wow, can't beat those 1 in 5 odds :P

So, the random number generator I used picked Jodi's number!

Please email me at emily (at) uquest (dot) net with your address so I can mail off your candy.

Just copying myself

Last week I posted this card that I got some nice comments on. I decided to give it a try with some other colours, so here are two that I made last night. I chose the colours (Kiwi Kiss and Riding Hood Red) because I had scraps of that DSP lying around ;) Doesn't take much paper (or time!) to make these cards.

Mass Production Thank You Card Day

I've got a table at a craft fair in a few weeks, and thought that the sets like these ones that I've got for sale over on Etsy would be good to sell.

So, last night and this morning I made a bunch more... Here's a pic of the final results. :)

An up close shot of one for the detail:

A Card for Jes's Sketch Challenge

Jes over at craft-o-rama post this challenge the other day, and I've been mulling over what to do for it. Check it out for yourself, she's got some blog candy to go to the winner. Deadline is Sunday.

The challenge was to use just the cardstock base, with no additional layers. It had to include 3 embellishments and a sentiment as well. So, no ribbon, no pretty paper, nothing.

Here's what I came up with:

The card is 4 1/4" square. The wreath stamp is one I picked up at Walmart a few weeks ago (they had gotten a bunch of Christmas stamps in). The Season's Greetings sentiment is from the SU Snow Swirled set (stamped with Riding Hood Red ink). I coloured in the stamp with SU watercolour pencils and used my blender pen. Then I added some red, green and gold stickles to give it some sparkle. For the 3 embellishments I used some gold eyelets, not something I use very often. Considering that I wasn't allowed to add other stuff to it, I'm liking my card. I might add some ribbon to it though for after the challenge to pretty up the wreath a bit.

Little Felt Flurries

I bought a set of these little felt flurries with my last order (they're in the Holiday Mini catalog). They're pretty cute, and there are lots of different designs. Here's what I came up with the other night. The stamp I used is from the Best Yet hostess set.

Stamps: Best Yet (SU)
Ink: Baja Breeze (SU)
Paper: Whisper White, Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze (all SU)
Other: Little Felt Flurries (SU), Ticket Corner punch, Large Oval punch, Wide Oval punch, 1 1/4" Circle punch (all SU), White gel pen (SU), pearl jewel stick ons.

I made this card last week sometime while waiting for my new stuff. First time using a wheel, and I think I need some practice. Still, I like it. I rubbed the scalloped circle punch out along my stamp pad a bit to streak it.

Stamps: Forever Flowers (wheel - SU), Pocket Silhouettes (SU)
Ink: Chocolate Chip (SU)
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip (both SU)
Other: Scalloped Circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch (all SU), brown brads, Stylized Flowers Cuttlebug Folder

Whee! New Stuff!

I got my Stampin Up! order last night, and just had to use some of the new stuff, even though I have a house that needs to be cleaned up :P

Here's one of my projects from last night. I used my new Stampin' Write markers to colour in the tree from my new Snow Swirled set before stamping it. I had other markers I used before, but even with "huffing" (breathing hot air onto the stamp) before using it, they never looked very good. I was super happy with these new markers though, they worked great for this.

Oh ya, I also got to use my new scallop edge punch. Love it!

Stamps: Snow Swirled (SU)
Ink: Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgundy (both SU)
Paper: Whisper White, Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgundy, So Saffron (all SU)
Other: Scallopo Edge Punch (SU), gold brads, ribbon

How come no one is signing up for my BLOG CANDY? Those are some pretty good odds right now :P

Wow Flowers - Happy Birthday

Here's a card I made the other day, wasn't sure what to do with the round Happy Birthday stamp in the Wow Flowers set, but this is what I came up with. I put stickles in the middle of each flower to give it a bit of sparkle.

Stamps: Wow Flowers (SU)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pacific Point (both SU)
Paper: Urban Garden DSP, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Pacific Point (all SU)
Other: Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch (all SU), blue sticles, blue brads

Oh ya, and I almost forgot to mention that my latest SU order came in today. Stay tuned for lots of new projects.

Also, don't forget to check out my BLOG CANDY, you have until next Sunday.

A Flower for all Seasons - Spring

Here's the spring version of the winter one I posted yesterday.

I love the SU blender pens. They work so well.

Stamps: A Flower for all Seasons (SU)
Ink: Basic Black (SU)
Paper: Whisper White, Bordering Blue, Urban Garden DSP (all SU)
Other: Square and Scalloped Square punches (not SU - these are from Michaels and bigger), square silver brads, ribbon, watercolour pencils, blender pen (SU)

On a side note, I've been organizing my craft room. It's probably the cleanest it's been since I started making cards. I'll have to post some pics once I'm all done.

Also, don't forget to check out my BLOG CANDY, you have until next Sunday.

And some other blog candy...

In case my candy wasn't enough, I figured I'd better post a link to Kristin's blog candy. She's giving away 1200 eyelets. Check out her blog here for more details.

Blog Candy!

I've been promising this blog candy for weeks now. It was supposed to be for reaching 500 hits, and now I'm over 600. Oops! Forgive me? :)

Anyway, here's the loot:

There are some clear stamps, a blender pen, some ribbon, some jewel brads, some charms, a bunch of buttons, some googly eyes (to make sheep!), some popsicle sticks (to make popsicle cards!), a couple small cuttlebug folders, and a bunch of Prima flowers. (None of this is SU stuff, sorry...)

To win, you need to post about this on your blog, and leave a comment so I know about it. If you don't have a blog, leave a comment anyway, but you have to tell me why you don't have a blog, how you found me, and what kind of crafts you do. I'll ship this stuff to anywhere in Canada or the US. I'll pick a name at random to win. I'll give you all until next Sunday (October 26th) at midnight EST (so I'll post the winner on Monday the 27th).

:)

A Flower for All Seasons - Winter

I love this set, but don't use it enough (yet!). I made two cards with it last night with similar layouts. I'll post the other one another day. I'm sure I'll start posting more Christmas cards as we get closer to the holidays.

Still waiting for my latest SU order (hopefully it comes on Monday), so I had to use some other Christmas paper for now :P

There are red stickles on the flowers in the image, and gold stickles on the brads inside the flowers.

Stamps: A Flower for all Seasons (SU)
Ink: Basic Black (SU)
Paper: Whisper White, So Saffron (both SU), green paper from Michaels
Other: Square and Scalloped Square punches (not SU - these are from Michaels and bigger), Prima flowers, brads, ribbon

Five Days Straight!

Woohoo! I managed to update every day so far this week :)

Here's a card I made last night when I couldn't sleep. Gotta love having my craft room next to the bedroom :P

The middle part is popped up a bit, hard to tell in the pic.

Stamps: Upsy Daisy (SU)
Ink: Pink Pirouette (SU)
Paper: Bella Rose DSP, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White (both SU)
Other: Ticket Corner Punch (SU), brads, ribbon

Another Birthday Card

I got the idea for this card off the SCS gallery the other night. I hadn't really used much from the Tart and Tangy set yet and was looking for some ideas.

Again, it's a really simple, easy card to make, but I like it.

Stamps: Tart and Tangy, On Your Birthday (Both SU)
Ink: Riding Hood Red (SU), white, green
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Basic Black (SU), green
Other: Scallop circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch (all SU), Cuttlebug folder, ribbon (Michaels), White Gel Pen (SU)

Three Days in a Row

Wow, sometimes I impress myself. :P I've managed to post 3 days in a row for the first time in ages.

Here's a card I made last night. It's so simple, and I love it! I love the paper from the Urban Garden DSP that I used. The colours are gorgeous.

Anyway, like I said, this card was so simple, it probably only took a few minutes, and other than the brads, it's all paper and ink (no ribbon, sparkles, embossing...)

Stamps: Eastern Blooms, Short & Sweet (both SU)
Ink: Basic Black (SU)
Paper: Urban Garden DSP, Basic Black, Very Vanilla (all SU)
Other: Black brads

Blue and Gold Christmas

Here's one of the cards I made this weekend. Still trying to find a Christmas card that I like and is easy. This is a good candidate! I like the colours cuz it's not your typical Christmas card colours, although not that far off either.

I didn't really like this stamp from the Season of Joy set (I got it mostly for the tree and the swirly thing), but now that I used it, I like it!

Stamps: Season of Joy (SU)
Ink: Baja Breeze (SU)
Paper: Whisper White, Baja Breeze (both SU), gold paper from Costco
Other: Snowflake Cuttlebug Embossing folder, ribbon, gold charm

The Notebook

I've been pretty bad at updating on here lately. This weekend I was in Toronto for a wedding, and also celebrated my 6 year wedding anniversary (!!). But I've got a few cards done, so watch for new posts this week. I've also got some blog candy together to celebrate 500 hits (now over 600, oops!) that I should be putting up this week, so stay tuned!

Now on to this post's craft. I picked up some hard cover notebooks at the dollar store this weekend, and tried my hand today at decorating one. I like how it turned out and will be making some more.

The flower in the middle is made with watercoloured paper that I cut petal shapes from and glued together.

Paper: Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Bella Rose DSP (all SU)
Other: Riding Hood Red Designer Button (SU), D'Vine Swirls Cuttlebug Embossing folder, Ribbon from Costco, Notebook from the dollar store.

Simply Said

This isn't a new set or anything, it's actully been around for awhile, but it's still in the current catalog. I like it cuz it's so simple. I finally got around to mounting it last night and used it tonight. There are some stickles in the middle of the flowers to give it some sparkle, but it's hard to see in this pic.

Stamps: Simply Said (SU)
Ink: Basic Black (SU)
Paper: Whisper White, Bravo Burgundy, So Saffron (all SU)
Other: Large Oval punch (SU), corner rounder punch, watercolour pencils, blender pen (SU), white ribbon, gold stickles, Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder

Happy World Card Making Day!

Today, October 4th is World Card Making Day. I wish I had time today to make a whole bunch of cards, but I have to take care of cleaning up outside for the winter, and then I have a birthday and housewarming party to go to. But I hope some of you have time today to make cards!

Stampin' Up has a bunch of new promotions this month, check them out here. The Holiday Mini catalog is also out now too. If you see anything you like, you can order it online directly from me by going to my Stampin' Up website (http://emilykate.stampinup.net/) and click on the "Shop Now" button in the top right side. Your order will be shipped directly to you!

Now that business is taken care of, here's a card I made last night for tonight's birthday party (so, it was already World Card Making Day somewhere in the world!).

I ordered the Owl Together Now set with my demonstrator kit, and then thought it was gonna be really hard to get the owls to sit on the branch, or to have their hats aligned right, so it's been sitting on the side for awhile. I decided to give it a try last night and had a ton of fun. The blocks around the pieces aren't much bigger than the rubber part, so you can definitely see the bottom of what you're stamping to know where to put it. I'm sure I'll be using this set lots now!

Stamps: Owl Together Now (SU)
Ink: Basic Black and Pacific Point (both SU)
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Pacific Point, Whisper White, Urban Garden DSP (all SU)
Other: Scallop Circle punch, 1 3/8" punch, 1 1/4" punch, white gel pen, blender pen (all SU), googly eyes, watercolour pencils, stickles.
